Named in honor of former Mines President Dr. John Trefny and his wife, Sharon, the Trefny Innovative Instruction Center leads the university in staying current with the most innovative teaching and learning techniques and promoting the university's academic work nationally. The center supports Mines faculty learning and sharing, finding and developing resources and using instructional data to enhance their teaching to advance learning for all students.

 

A unique aspect of the center is the team of students who help create instructional videos, graphics, slides and a variety of resources for faculty on campus. The HIVE are creative, tech-savvy students who help professors and other staff members find innovative ways to teach.
